Welcome to the official website of the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association - CCSA. The CCSA is the governing body of collegiate fastpitch softball in Canada and is responsible for the promotion, support and development of the sport.
Experienced fastpitch softball athletes have numerous opportunities to stay in Canada and play in Canada and every year more Canadian colleges and universities are supporting highly competitive fastpitch softball programs. 2014 saw the addition of three teams to the CCSA system. Briercrest College (Saskatchewan - WCSA) and Fanshawe College (London, Ont. - OCAA) added women's softball to their varsity athletic programs and found immediate success playing in their leagues. The University of Alberta played an exhibition schedule in the WCSA with plans to formally join the league in 2015. With the addition of Briercrest, Fanshawe and the U of Alberta there were 27 collegiate teams playing in the CCSA system this year. The 2014 CCSA National Championships were hosted by the University of Calgary, October 10 -13 and saw the Western Mustangs (OIWFA) repeat as National Champions while the St. Clair Saints (OCAA) won silver and the University of Regina Cougars (WCSA) bronze. With 2015 the CCSA is looking forward to a new season and more growth. Holland College (P.E.I.) is in the process of identifying new recruits with the intention of establishing a women's softball program for 2015 and there are several schools in British Columbia that have expressed interest in doing the same. The 2015 CCSA National Championships will be hosted by the Durham College Lords of the OCAA in October. So if your plans are to play collegiate softball we encourage you to look very carefully at the opportunities you have to do so in Canada.
